Firm named one of Canada’s Top 50 Employers for 2014
Toronto (December 6, 2013): Fusion Learning Inc. has been selected as one of Canada’s Top Small & Medium Employers for 2014, reflecting the company’s commitment to providing a fulfilling workplace environment and best-in-class practices for its more than 28 full-time employees and 20 contract facilitators. Winners were announced today in a special feature published by Mediacorp in The Globe and Mail.
To determine eligibility for this list, the definition of small and medium employers used by Statistics Canada consists of private-sector enterprises with up to 500 employees. Fifty employers across Canada have been chosen for this year’s list.
“Receiving the Top 50 distinction is great news for us. The timing is absolutely perfect,” says Scott Gilmore, SVP Sales & Marketing of sales training firm Fusion Learning Inc. “We’ve just released our book Engage Me, which provides practical how-tos to ensure the highest level of employee engagement. We practice what we teach. This award reaffirms our efforts to be leaders in our field in attracting and retaining quality people.”
“Three pillars support a great organization,” says Kevin Higgins, CEO of Fusion Learning Inc. Attitude, skills and discipline underpin the company’s engaged and high-performance team — not to mention contributing to an environment that makes Fusion a great place to work.
Higgins is elaborating on the insights that brought the firm to this distinction – and these insights fill his new book, Engage Me: Strategies from the Sales Effectiveness Source.
The literature of personal improvement says you can turn struggle into success with appropriate coaching. But there’s coaching and then there’s coaching. “Good coaches,” says Kevin, “can be as tough-minded as the situation demands, and they apply their skills equally to the newbies and the old hands. Real coaching combines a confidence-building look at what went right followed by determinedly — and without too much prompting — nudging employees toward discovering and internalizing better practices on their own.”
Now in its 14th year, The Canada’s Top 100 Employers competition is the largest editorial project of its kind in Canada, with thousands of employers taking part in each year’s application process. The project’s distinguishing feature is that its editors publish detailed reasons, providing transparency in the selection of winners and practical guidance for job-seekers about exceptional workplaces.
