Tim Magwood,
Founding Partner
Tim is the proud founder of Fusion Learning. In 1999, his vision was to create the "defacto leader in Canada in sales learning." Today, Fusion Learning is the fastest growing sales effectiveness firm in Canada (3 years in a row on the Profit 100). At Fusion, his role is to drive strategy, deliver excellence with clients, develop new clients and coach internal team members.
Tim is a creative, collaborative and passionate learning leader. A colleague describes him as a "lightning rod in driving positive change." He has the head of an entrepreneur, a heart of a coach and the soul of an artist. As a facilitator with Fusion, he has brought value to over 5,000 participants.
Prior to Fusion Learning, Tim served as a senior consultant, trainer with Horn and Associates where he designed and delivered sales and sales management training. Tim was also a senior account director at ICE (Integrated Communications and Entertainment) where he orchestrated corporate communications solutions. Before entering the business world, he delighted audiences in stage productions such as: Les Miserables (Royal Alexandra Theatre, National Arts Centre); Napoleon (Elgin Theatre); and Fiddler on the Roof (Huron Country Playhouse). His professional training in theatre enables him to bring a learning environment to life with the participants as the "stars of the show.
Outside of Fusion, he is kept busy with his 3 kids, his patient and supportive wife and his passion for music and songwriting. Tim has recently produced his first CD of original music, Zig Zag Bridge.
What are some organizations you have recently worked with?
Sony Canada, HSBC, Royal and Sun Alliance, The Globe and Mail, Grand and Toy, Manulife, TD Bank and Rogers.
What are some strengths that clients benefit from?
Excellent facilitation skills, a keen ear, high energy, strategic thinking and a drive for continuous improvement.
What delights you about your work?
I feel very fortunate to do something I love-making a difference in how people show up and perform on the job. I enjoy helping people look deeper into their strengths and opportunities and making small adjustments that can make big gains.
What is your perspective on sales development?
In order for sales development to be "sticky," it needs: strong collaboration with the client; practical and simple design; great facilitation that challenges and supports the participants; and focused follow up.
